The Family is proud to introduce our sweet baby boy, Elias Slafford-Darkwatch who was born today, September 4th at 3:31pm SLT. I know you’re eager for a story.

It was an interesting occasion – to say the least. It was a beautiful scene but we were without any sort of real birth plan until about an hour before it happened. We concluded that Anubis and Aponi would share the responsibility of “catching”.

While we waited for Anubis to arrive, I sat on the birthing ball that came with the little set I bought, bouncing gently and teaching Aponi and Lassarina what a birthing ball even is. Who knew that an SL birth could be really educational!?

So I laid on a pile of pillows, in the laboring position as my contractions came every 10 minutes…

Sookie’s Tummy: Sookie feel her contractions !!!
Sookie’s Tummy: Sookie Try to relax your entire body.
Sookie’s Tummy: Breathe with deep, slow breaths, raising your belly up off your uterus.
Sookie’s Tummy: Inhale through your nose, exhale through your mouth.
Sookie’s Tummy: Continue slow breathing between contractions.

It was hard to stay serious. The contractions were complete with both animation and noise. So every 10 minutes, my avatar would grab her belly, hold her mouth open in gaping pain and make a light groaning and panting noise. And well, it was funny.

At 3pm on the dot, my water broke and particle water came gushing out from between my legs…. all over Anubis. His fault because he was sitting in between my legs, waiting to perform his daddy duties. haha Notice his goggles…

After the water broke, we thought it would be 20 minutes before the baby would arrive. My contractions increased to every 2 minutes (I did this manually) and we waited some more. But 20 minutes came and went, with no sign of little Elias.

Anubis jokingly suggested that this must be what was meant by “complications”. And so I did what anyone else would do and I reset the scripts in the belly because after the water gush, it wouldn’t let me click on it. OMG There was an error in my delivery! Water came gushing from between my legs… again, all over Anubis and Aponi.

After waiting a little longer, conversation came about of us “taking matters into our own hands” as follows…

[15:30] Sookie Slafford: Okay um… Yeeah the baby is coming. On the count of 3.. I’ll push, y’all catch

Out came Elias into the arms of Anubis at 3:31pm!

Anubis had his time with little Elias before he was wrapped in a blanket and handed to me. I laid on the pile of pillows, snuggling my little bundle of joy and looking oddly relieved.

Tonight, there will be a party so everyone can get to meet little Elias. We’re really excited to introduce him to you all!
