Okay Karma… But You Owe Me

I’m a day late, but with good reason… honest! What a fantastic week it’s been and so much has changed that I had to wait an extra day just to gear up for this post! That’s right… it’s time for ‘Shit I Did When I Wasn’t Here’!

SookieSlafford.com

Okay technically, this goes against the point of the wrap up post. Regardless, I’m sure my regular readers have noticed the change in the site. I did this to better reflect the Mad Props challenge. Plus, it’s a nice change that didn’t require a lot of work on changing the full theme.

Jolly Farm

Of course Jolly Farm tops the big news this week. Last night, my good friend Alia Whitfield held my hand while I literally cried, watching Dirk Klees (owner of Lionheart Estate) tear apart what was once the 6 in 1 parcel of Jolly Farm. It broke my heart to watch, but I knew it was the right thing to do. “Some of the best companies have had to downsize to grow better” as another friend put it. It’s very true. Downsizing the land means more profit gain – which means I can afford better advertising and Jolly Farm can once again flourish.

I dropped 3 of the 6 parcels. I’m not going to lie… the cheaper tier is a bit of a relief. I miss my home. I miss the way Jolly Farm looked – very, very much. But I also know that it’s not forever. One day, I’m sure I will have it all back. It’s what’s best for the business for now. And I’m happy that at least one of the 3 parcels I let go has already gone to a good home. I know Alia will take care of it and use it respectfully.

There are still 2 parcels next to Jolly Farm for anyone who is interested in owning a piece of the history. I’d be happy to show them to anyone interested.

Santa has come to Jolly Farm! Are you feeling lucky? Santa has prizes to give away if you’re letter comes up!Santa will be adding more prizes soon!

In other Jolly Farm news… Product updates are coming! I’ll explain a little further in this post.

Lionheart

The Gift of Frost Hunt started this morning and I’m pleased that I’ve already seen some people popping into my store in search of the Snowflake containing the free item – people I’ve never heard of. So I think we’re off to a decent start. I’m very excited to do the hunt for myself and see what all the other merchants came up with!

Lionheart sims (excluding the beaches) all got a blanket of snow overnight. Yours truly helped choose the texturing. I like the little bits of grass. As Estate Manager Darthbunny Petrov commented – It makes the green trees make more sense. I agree. It feels more realistic to me too and it gives the eyes a nice break from snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow… you get the point.

The update finally arrived! You can read up on that information here.

Computer Stuff

So thanks to some very special friends, I was able to order a refurbished Dell computer last week. It came in the mail yesterday – a day early in fact. It was seriously like Christmas morning in this house. I was so excited… and I know my husband was thrilled at the idea of having his computer back (and not having to hear me curse and whine). My adrenaline was pumping and I practically snatched the box from the UPS man and ran to my office where I began preparing for the switch.

I deleted as many files as I could that I absolutely didn’t need – mostly duplicates and other uneccesary files created over the last 4 months. I zipped up everything else and burned it onto a CD. I pulled the new computer out of its box and plugged everything in! And then I got to my monitor…

I intentionally purchased a refurbished Dell computer because I’d heard rumor that only Dell stuff works with Dell stuff. I have a Dell monitor… that apparently doesn’t fit my Dell computer. I’m not amused by this at all. So I had to order a DVI connector thing which will be here in like a week.

But the story gets better! The day before, my best friend brought back my old computer (this being the 2nd time) and we both assumed it still broken. Last time he brought it to me, it was “fixed” at his house, but for whatever reason, refused to work here. Well… I decided to give it a whirl and see what would happen. I plugged it in, turned it on and it’s working like a champ.

I’m quite furious.

And you know if I return the new computer, the old one will immediately break! I’m not sure yet what I am gonna do. I may just use the old computer for storage or something. But the good news is that I have access to all of my files now and I can begin updating products and make new ones! Woohoo!
