Goodbye SL Advertising Beta Program
Those of us who registered to participate in the Second Life Advertising Beta Program (say that 5 times fast) just received this email: Is anyone else not surprised? I signed up for the program, but didn’t get around to using it. I found it a bit expensive for my taste and in my opinion, it’s cheaper to advertise on well written blogs that are highly syndicated than it is to advertise on the Marketplace. My thought is that if it weren’t so expensive, more people probably would have been interested in the service and then Linden Labs would have made... Continue Reading

What’s all the Hype About?
Hype is a commonly used promotional tool in Second Life. It’s a marketing strategy in which a product or service is advertised in such a way that it appears to be the “next big thing” or a “must have” product. A good way to build up hype about a product is to release minimal information about it, pass around photos of the product at a distance or in part, or release the product early to a select few big-name bloggers who are well syndicated. There have been some excellent hype building campaigns on Second Life that I’ve seen. Some of... Continue Reading

Confused and Frustrated Ramblings
I’m rather frustrated at the moment. Before anyone reads this, I want a few things understood… I realize this this post will create drama. I wish it wouldn’t, but I think the drama already exists without it being my intention anyways. I’m going to have some say some things that certain people won’t like – and I’m not just speaking about the person that this post is sort of aimed at. I believe in being open and honest about my feelings. It’s one of the reasons for a blog. I don’t know how else to get out what I have... Continue Reading

From the ashes… the Phoenix has risen
Anubis posted me this link about 15 minutes ago. It’s a forum post by Jessica Lyons, one of the developers of Emerald who basically jumped ship during the “dramaz” to save face (which was the right thing to do). Basically, she and the other good developers of Emerald got together and made a new viewer appropriately named “Phoenix” which is basically a Linden Lab compliant version of Emerald. I’ve downloaded it myself… I’m on it right now. So if you miss Emerald and you are looking to keep with it, go here to download Phoenix. If you want to learn... Continue Reading

The Site Gets a New Look!
If you’re a regular around the site, you probably noticed the huge face lift. It’s awesome, right? I know… it kicks serious ass. I guess the biggest change is the theme itself. No more black/pink… SookieSlafford.com has taken on a fresh, vibrant green/white duo (and this particular shade of green just happens to be my favorite color). And then of course, there’s the other big change – the splash page. Sure, the majority of the content here is made of blog postings. But that’s not all there is to this site. What if you just want to learn about Jolly... Continue Reading

Slafford Loses Lionheart CoC Election
How embarrassing, honestly. You’re probably thinking “Sookie, I didn’t even know you were running for anything or what CoC even is.” And well, that doesn’t surprise me considering how behind I am on my personal blogging. If you’ve been reading along for a while, you know that I’ve been apart of the Lionheart Estate Community for the last almost 6 months. During that time, I’ve grown to really become involved with the community and care what happens in it. So it was no surprise to anyone that I wanted to run for the elected position of Chairman of the Lionheart... Continue Reading

Hey… Where’s the Beef?
If you’re into reading my blog, you’ve probably noticed that it’s been a while since I posted. Things have been hectic and everything has been changing so fast. Jolly Farm There’s so much to talk about that I don’t even know where to begin. I guess I’ll start with the website first. I’m pretty sure I’ve talked about it a little in prior posts but in case I haven’t… I started a website for Jolly Farm. But it’s not just about my business… it’s about Ozimals in general as well. Here’s the URL: http://www.jollyfarmonline.info It’s sort of a mixture of... Continue Reading
